The evoloution of Word Press

Keeping up with the web’s evolution

Web development is evolving at a faster pace than ever. Sites used to have to be created using hand written HTML for every page, it was either that or you would have to look for scripts on the internet to help automate a lot of that or hire a developer to develop a custom solution to automate the process. Eventually people started looking for something better.

Some started to develop their own content management systems some started using other people’s, and then word press came along. A full featured content management system, and everything changed. WordPress just makes development fun all over again.

WordPress was developed by Matt Mullenweg and was released to the word in May 27 2003. It started out as a simple blogging platform, and eventually evolved into a fully featured CMS system. WordPress as a web development platform just works, whether your a beginner hobbyist wanting to make a personal website or a seasoned pro web developer WordPress is the platform for you.

The User Experience

It’s all about the user experience

Designed with user experience being the top priority WordPress is extremely easy to build and manage sites with. I’ve personally built basic blogging sites all the way up to a full featured shopping cart system handling hundreds of products.

WordPress simply takes all the tedious tasks out of web development. Things like templating, creating navigation and managing content are the most tedious tasks in web development. WordPress simply takes all these things and make them extremely easy to manage. This way you never have to worry about updating hundreds of files on your site because you’ve added an extra page, WordPress makes all that easy to do. All you have to focus on is the design and the content.

You don’t need to spend a lot to have a nice site

Most people have very basic needs for a website they just need to set something up for personal use which could be an online resume, a portfolio or even to promote their business. There is no need to go out and spend thousands of dollars on getting a custom website designed. For most people they can learn to use WordPress look for a theme that is suitable and get started with their website. This would cost them no more than a hundred dollars.

Wordpress Templates

There are plenty of options

Web designers may have a more specific need, more customizability. WordPress has a very powerful templating engine that allows you to do pretty much anything you wish to build. If your building a site for a client you can save a lot of money if you use WordPress.

If your a one man/woman freelance web designer WordPress takes care of a lot of difficult programming so you wouldn’t need to hire a developer, you would just have to learn WordPress‘s easy templating system, once you pick that up you can build whatever your heart desires.

To top that off plugins also help save cost and development time. Plugins are snippets of code that do certain things it can be things like contact form, or a booking engine or even a shopping cart. These plugins can save you a lot of time since you don’t have to develop a solution yourself you can just build a custom theme and integrate the existing plugins into their projects, this can save hundreds of man hours.

Whether you want to build a basic site for personal needs or you are a freelance web designer word press can help speed up your development and cut costs. It means the difference between working by yourself or a partner, and having to hire a team to do the job.

The less people you can use to get the job done without compromise in quality, the more profit you can make.
