Here at Web Courses Bangkok, we have decided that a good way to end the week will be to have an Inspiration Friday. Last week everyone came up with a few websites, plugins, apps, etc. that had inspired them during the week, and then had 5 minutes to share with the rest of the team. Here is what we came up with for the first session.

flinto
I was inspired by this site by it’s simplicity and how it fit into the UX process of designing an app so well. Essentially one can upload a picture, mark a hotspot that a user can click to move to aother screen. Essentially you can do a full user flow with just a series of pictures. Even allows you to upload PSDs. Another great point is that the share link actually allows you to

How it can be used is actually creating an app or even a responsive design version of a site can be tried out before a line of code is ever written.

type connection
I was inspired by this site because I am terrible at matching fonts together. I wanted a way of being taught how to find fonts that match for my designs and this site taught me how.

How it can be used is on new projects that do not have branding and we are looking for heading and body text fonts that compliment each other.

smashing magazine

This website inspires me because it explain how responsive e-commerce website really help to increase sales in your business. It also explains how to achieve a good layout for mobile version.
This can help us understand the e-commerce on the mobile.

illustrator tutorial

This tutorial inspires me because of the complex and the detail the guy went to make a raster image into a vector.

avaaz

Whats inspiring about it?

It looks at the world as a malleable thing, why read tragic news everyday without doing anything about it?

This social networks gives you the power to start any petition that you like, if you see something unjust happening in the world, all you have to do is tell the Avaaz network and the community will respond.

By pressuring leaders and organising online petition signing, Avaaz gives people world wide the power and resources to change anything they think is wrong with the reality around them.

With over 24 million members world wide and a average growth of 3 million users per year, Avaaz is really gaining momentum and managing to create some real victories (http://www.avaaz.org/en/highlights.php).

It’s good to be reminded even small actions (all it takes is to push a button) can be turned into meaningful change.

cloudfont

Cloud Font allows you to backup, synchronise and access your font book wherever you are.

This means that if you are working on multiple devices or suddenly realise that you don’t have the font needed for your design on your computer, you can simply log on to cloud font and get the font.

Cloud font makes sharing, backing up and synchronising your Font Book really easy.

duo

Duo is a web browser that has a split screen that allows you to see how website look on desktop as well as on mobile simultaneously.

This is very useful for web designers when testing a website as they can test the responsiveness of a website on multiple devices without having to use separate devices.

sagmeister and walsh

A great take on thinking outside of the design box. Given a design brief from Adobe to redesign their logo. Sagmeister and Walsh decide to turn the whole process into a gameshow.

The Designs that they come up with are really not good, but that’s not the point. Design can be fun, and great ideas don’t have to start on the computer.
