One of the first thing you should do, all the info and data you have in your mind, put it in paper and start to design your business plan. This is important to show to your clients or investors.

Create a good Logo

The logo is the face of any business or company, a logo say a lot, so make a nice one, and if your skills are not the best at designing a logo, ask to somebody else to do it.

Sometimes you should say NO

One of the most difficult words to say, but a very important one. If you don’t have time for a new project, be fair to yourself and say no. The idea is having enough time to do the best work for your clients. Too many clients equals lower quality of work.

Make a Website

Having a website or a blog, is one of the most important things you should do. It is the entrance door to your company, so future clients can see your work. So make a nice website, a nice portfolio and a good contact information page. Show your job quality to the people so they can contact you for work.

Update your website regularity

Keep updating your website. You are still on the market, if you only have projects in your portfolio that you did five years ago, it will not help.

Active in Social Media

Being active on Social Media today is very important, you can share a lot of stuff with people. People can follow your work and ideas. Publish articles or tutorial regularly too.

Treat every client special

A client wants the best of you, if you did a good job he/she will be loyal and will come back for your services. They will recommended you to other people. So do good work, keep good relationships, and they will return and bring to you more clients.

Work when you are at work

If you planning to work 6 hours a day for example from 9am to 3 pm, in that time only work on your projects. Freelance implies freedom but discipline, so in the time you are working on projects, don’t make private phone calls, or private emails, play with the children or watch tv if you work from home.

Know when to start and to stop

It’s okay if you do some extra hours a day, but is very important to take some time off to do other stuff. Know when stop, close the computer and spare time with friends or family. When you work from home it is difficult stop working, so keep in mind to work only a certain number of  hours a day.

Look Professional

Your image is very important. Of course the quality of the work you do is more important, but try to have achieve balance. If you, your office, website and logo looks professional and organized, the client can trust you more and they will recommend you to other clients.

Ask for feedback from your clients

After finishing a project, ask your costumers for feedback. Maybe make a feedback form on your website. This will give you a chance to improve your quality.

Carry a tablet or notebook with you

Having a notebook or tablet with you could be very useful. If you have some crazy idea, it’s easy to note down. If you meet someone important, you can show your work and portfolio immediately as well.
